I finally got a chance to use my Hennessy on my trip last week to BNR in Arkansas. The short version is that it is awesome and I recommend it to anyone under 185 lbs. Big-boned folks can get more substantial versions that can handle higher weights.
The long version:

REI sent me an email about the super secret sale they have going on in their outlet at the moment. Use code SECRET7 to get 20% off the selected items. With the coupon, prices around their super clearance levels, so there are some great deals if you are looking for any of the stuff that is included. The Sierra Designs Clip 3 is in there, and is an awesome tent. I have had one for a few years, and highly recommend it. Mine does not have a footprint and I can’t find one for it, so I am seriously tempted to get this one and sell or give away my old one.

Amazon has the La Crosse BC-900 battery charger that has been mentioned a few times in other threads for $39.99 right now. They like to make the price jump around, but $39.99 is about as low as it goes, so grab one if you are interested. I’d be happy to post about why this thing is so nice if anyone needs more information.

I know it is a huge shocker that a pyro would have this happen, but I got a new fire making toy in the mail recently. It is called the Wind King Rope Lighter, and judging from the packing, it is quite old. I was not able to find any mention of a current manufacturer online.
I made a video of the operation of the lighter, since it is kind of hard to imagine how something like this would work, or at least work well. I completely understand if you are in awe of my incredible cinematography and narration skills:

My father and I are going on a backpacking trip for about a week in a couple of weeks. This is his first backpacking trip in many moons, so he does not have piles of gear threatening to overtake his house like I do. He was in town last weekend, so I picked through his stuff to see what I could give him and what he would need to buy. One thing he was lacking was a good fixed blade. We plan on doing a lot of bumming around in the woods, so a reliable fixed blade is a nice thing to have.
I had him try the 15 or so knives I have amassed over the past couple of months. I am very picky about any tool I use, be it a knife or a power drill, so I keep on buying new ones and then selling the ones I don’t like or want. I only own a couple of fixed blades that I actually use.

I picked up an
Icebreaker Tech T Lite recently in my never-ending pursuit of the perfect T-shirt. Dare I say it, this might be the one.
I was working in the yard and wearing one my my REI Sahara Tech Ts the other day and was still pretty warm and sweaty. The REI shirt was very comfortable, and was doing a decent job of regulating my body temp and sweat, but I thought it would be a good time to test the Icebreaker. I threw the REI shirt at my dog (putting shirts over his head is like giving him sleeping pills) and slipped on the Icebreaker.
